What’s the size of the field going to be next year 12,000 players and a prize pool of $120,000,000? Imagine the British Open Golf Championship, allowing 8,000 hackers to buy in at the gate for $10,000. It would take approximately 240 days to complete - weather permitting of course.

The WSOP organizers need to get a grip before it gets completely out of control, allow everyone the opportunity to qualify, let the prize money continue to increase, but narrow the field for the final event.

Actual number of contestants for 2006 WSOP Main Event was 8773 so Jamie Gold would have had to overcome only 8772 other contenders.
